I’m Swastika Mahotkar, and along with Sanjay Puttur, this brand was born during a phase when corporate life was pulling us from every direction. Long hours, constant pressure, and a routine that left very little space to breathe. We shared a cute and strong bond, and most of our best ideas came out during those random, unplanned conversations after exhausting workdays.
One such day, we started talking about money- no filters, no pretence. Sanjay said, very casually, “Shayad account mein 2k honge.” I laughed and replied, “Mere paas toh bas 1k hai.” There was a moment of silence, followed by laughter. It wasn’t sad—it was real. We joked about it, but somewhere in between, a thought popped up. If we already trusted each other this much, why not turn this bond into something meaningful? Something that belonged to us.

The stitching part tested our patience the most. Finding skilled stitchers who truly understand fit and comfort wasn’t easy at all. We rejected designs, redid pieces, and learned that good quality takes time and effort. Every kurti had to feel right—not just look good. Because we wanted our customers to feel comfortable wherever they wore Swasanj, not just for photos, but in real life.
For us, Swasanj is our priya sakhi—a quiet companion that makes you feel confident without trying too hard. We want people to look at our customer and say, “Kitni khubsurat hai hamari sakhi.” Sanjay often laughs when he sees me wearing Swasanj and says, “Sun ri sakhi, meri pyari sakhi,” and honestly, that one line sums up the emotion behind this brand perfectly.
